Knitting and Crochet are crafts that go back for hundreds
of years because, like weaving, they were a means to an end in making
warm, wearable clothing and attire. Little girls, as young as 8 years
old, were taught these crafts by their mothers and they were passed on
down the centuries. During the first and second world wars the ladies,
left waiting at home for their loved ones to return, could be found
usefully knitting socks for the soldiers to wear. From then on knitting
and crochet skills have grown and grown and those using these skills
have found that, not only are they a useful, money saving craft, but a
very therapeutic and relaxing one that you can pick up and put down as
and when you like.
The crochet/knitting group includes members who are able to help beginners.
This group is meeting on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 2pm.
